Area Description :

The abacos have a total population of 13 170 and is a 210 kilometre chain of islands (some 100 are uninhabited); known for boatbuilding and colonial style architecture reminiscent of loyalist history. It is a boating and fishing paradise. Abaco's waters are overrun with game fish like tuna, dolphin, blue marlin, billfish, and kingfish among others. The major islands of this small archipelago are great and little abaco, with the off-lying cays of elbow cay, lubbers quarters, man-o-war cay, green turtle cay, guana cay, stranger's cay, umbrella cay and walker's cay. The commercial hub of the islands and third largest town in the bahamas is marsh harbour, on great abaco, which has stores and marinas that provide services to fulfil the boater's every need. From marsh harbour and treasure cay, a little further away, it is possible to take ferries to visit the off-lying cays.
